Set of two original Walt Disney Production animation drawings from Mother Goose Goes Hollywood short film, 1938. Two original production graphite drawings on 12 field 5 peg hole sheets, both pieces in very good condition. This humorous short film is a lively parody of popular nursery rhymes with big name movie stars playing parts.
Stan Laurel plays Simple Simon in this scene and Oliver Hardy plays the Pieman tending his large stack of pies. Laurel refuses the pie offered and picks one from the middle of the stack which alarms Hardy fearing the stack will collapse.
Nothing happens, and the reassured Hardy tries to do same. When the stack collapses with a lie landing on his head he becomes furious with Laurel.
Oliver whistling their signature theme tune and the pie fighting are great references to their movies. This is a marvelous short film from Walt Disney Productions with other movie stars making cameo appearances. The Marx Brothers, Eddie Cantor, Katherine Hepburn, Charlie McCarthy, Joe E Brown, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, WC Fields, Cab Calloway and other luminaries breeze through this delightful short. We have other wonderful animation production art drawings of these other stars that we will be listing, please feel free to contact if you have any questions.
