DISNEY Original Production Cel, ROBINHOOD, Little John as Duke of Chutney

Disney Robin Hood, Original Production Cel, "Little John" Disguised as the Duke. This uppity looking old guy is actually dear "Little John", once again dressed in disguise. In this scene, he was "Sir Reginald, Duke of Chutney", a nobleman, who consorted with Prince John in an effort to keep him occupied while Robin took care of some important task. The cel is in good condition with just very gentle waving all over. The waving under the thick paint of the character actually punctuates Little John's weight issues it seems.

This cel does not have any creases which is different from all my other Disney cels. The issue that is discouraging, is that the pretty silver frame's glass has a stable crack in the upper right side. The crack is 2 1/2" long and 1/2" wide and is up against the frame. I don't know when it was cracked or how. Oddly, when it was hanging on our wall, no one, including me, ever noticed it.

One's eye is so drawn to the character and what is inside the soft pink mat, that it is easy to miss what's out around the edge. I'm suspecting one of our 7 grandchildren could probably provide some information though. Look at the last 2 photos carefully to see the crack in perspective and then up close. The piece is ALL ORIGINAL with documentation provided by Disney Productions on the back of the frame, along with a production number hand written by the artist on the upper left hand corner in pencil, and has the necessary Disney stamp on the front of the cel.

The piece was even FRAMED by the Disney Company and is very solid and sophisticated looking (except for the crack). The frame is 16 1/2" by 20 1/2" and the cel is 14 1/2" by 10 1/2". I think that this is one of the harder characters to find. My photos are part of the description so look carefully.
